Speaking of his decision to leave UCB and join Safe Worlds IPTV, Wooding said: “After much prayer and consideration I felt God was calling me to move on to this new venture with Safe Worlds IPTV. One of the great appeals was the opportunity to be involved in the Missionaries News Service channel that Safe Words IPTV is launching in August. With my grandparents having been missionaries in Nigeria, my parents being missionaries and having worked myself with Youth With A Mission, I feel this is God’s opportunity for me to carry on that work, and help my fellow missionaries everywhere, through the rapidly developing media of IPTV.”
Of Wooding’s new venture UCB’s TV and Radio Executive Gary Hoogvliet said: “It is bitter/sweet to release Peter into this new and exciting work, but we do it with love and enthusiasm, knowing that it is of God. He will be incredibly difficult to replace, not only for his talent, but for his heart and his contribution to UCB. We want to publicly honor Peter and release him into this new work with all our affection and love, in the sure knowledge that he is doing what he was born to do.”
Peter’s first assignment is to set up a Safe Worlds IPTV Studio in the UK where he’ll produce and present a daily European Missions Report, highlighting the works of Christian missions organizations throughout Britain and across the continent.
Peter’s first overseas assignment in Europe will be to report on a missions trip he’ll be leading to Konotop, Ukraine August 1-10th. As director of ASSIST Europe, Peter and his team from the UK will be working alongside Eastern European Outreach to provide a vacation bible school for special needs and local children at the Hearts of Love Centre in Konotop, Ukraine. Peter is then planning a busy round of meetings with missions groups in the UK to interview them about their inspiring work, and also to demonstrate the Safe Worlds News Reporter software that will enable missionaries to tell their stories in a very cost-effective way through the Missionaries News Service.
“The Missionaries News Service provides missionaries from all over the world with a cost-effective way to harness the power of IPTV to tell their stories, promote their projects, and raise the funding that they need,” he said. “As a missionary myself, I know that missionaries everywhere are going to welcome this wonderful new service.”
Dan Wooding, Peter’s father, who is one of the founders of the Missionaries News Service in the United States, said that he is delighted to be working again with his son, back in the mission field. “This is one of the most exciting projects that anyone could get involved with – telling the world about what God is doing in His world. I am thrilled that I can work with Peter on this wonderful project. We both believe that this is a most meaningful way for us to do our bit to fulfill our great commission and take the gospel to the world.”
Alan Metcalfe, Safe Worlds IPTV CEO, who recruited Dan and Peter to help launch the Missionaries News Service said in Irvine, California this week that his company felt particularly privileged to have two such outstanding news people and missionaries involved.
“Anyone who knows Dan knows of his great love for the church and his incredible good works,” he said. “He is not only one of the great characters of the church in the world today, but one of its most diligent and loyal servants. Peter, is clearly a chip off the old block, and we are honored and delighted to have his help to get things started for us in Europe.”
Mr. Metcalfe said that he personally wanted to thank Ian Mackie and the management team at UCB UK for helping Peter make this transition.
“We are great admirers of what Ian Mackie and UCB are doing and we are particularly grateful that Ian and his people have so enthusiastically supported Peter in this move,” he said. “I am sure they will miss him, but, like Peter, I believe this is for the greater glory of God. I hope and pray that the Missionaries News Service will only add to the great work that UCB is doing in the world.”
The Missionaries News Service
The Missionaries News Service Website will enable missionaries that want to join the Missionaries News Service to register their interest and get the free Safe Worlds IPTV and NewsReporter software.
“Every missionary who wants to better promote what they are doing in the field should at least take a look at what we are doing,” Safe Worlds IPTV CEO Alan Metcalfe said.
Mr. Metcalfe also stressed that the Missionaries News Service is not intended to replace any existing services that are already assisting missionaries. “We simply want to make our superior IPTV technology available to the church,” he said. “We therefore welcome contact with churches, ministries, NGOs, and anyone who has a heart to help missionaries to explore how we can use this technology to help their effort.” Mr. Metcalfe can be contacted through the contact form at www.safeworlds.tv
Note: Dan Wooding explained that he will continue to run ASSIST News Service and ANS stories will also be run daily on Safe Worlds IPTV in video updates hosted by various anchors.
